It is extremely gratifying to all of us here to read the notes and emails from women like Shalese who write to tell us how our products help them look and feel more beautiful. We were interested to hear more about Shalese's story, so we sat down with her recently for an interview.

Rx for Brown Skin:
Could you tell us what sorts of issues you've had with your skin in the past?

Shalese: In college, I started having bad reactions to makeup. It gave me acne, which caused scars and discoloration, especially on my cheeks and chin, and the worst part was that I had to wear more makeup to cover it. It was frustrating because I had always had great skin as a teenager, and having to cover my skin with makeup was not natural.

What kind of impact did your skin issues have on your life?

Shalese: People didn't say anything about my skin problems, but you know when you don't feel right. You know when you have a pimple or discoloration, and it affects your life. I wasn't performing to the best of my abilities. I was self conscious about talking in front of a group about health or giving presentations. I was always wondering if people were looking at my skin.

Had you tried other skincare products before finding Rx for Brown Skin?

Shalese: Over a period of about 7 years after college, I tried probably more than 30 products over the years, hoping and wishing this or that would help – everything from $10 drug store products to $200 doctor brands at specialty stores.

I battled with my skin for 7 years and it was incredibly frustrating. I was doing everything right – eating healthier, drinking more water. I had tried numerous other products and always got bad reactions that made my skin worse. This was my last hope to find something that could help my skin. Any product with hydroquinone seemed to make my dark areas even darker.

Did that make you skeptical about skincare products in general?

Shalese: I was very skeptical when I first saw Rx for Brown Skin. Any time a product said it was "for brown skin," I just doubted that it would work. But I went on the Facebook page and read what other people said about it, and the comments were mostly positive. It helped to see real people speaking their views and talking about their successes.

What kind of results did you see with Rx for Brown Skin?

Shalese: I saw smoother skin and diminished appearance of pore size. I also started seeing more even-looking skin, and it's only gotten better. It reduced the look of discoloration, and I'm so happy!

What kind effect has that had on your life?

Shalese: I just feel so much more confident overall. I wake up in the morning and I don't have to worry about acne. I wake up ready to face the world because I know my skin exhibits health.

I'm a chiropractor, and I have to look healthy and glowing so that I feel confident and clients feel comfortable coming to me. I used to go get facials all the time. Now, I don't have to go as often, and when I do go, the aesthetician wants to know what I've been doing! And I don't have to wear as much makeup as before – just a little bronzer to give me a glow.

What would you say to anyone who's reading this right now and isn't sure whether Rx for Brown Skin will work for them?

Shalese: What I'd like to say to anyone who is reading this and isn't sure it will work for them is, I was right there with you. I was skeptical at first, but you have to try it and see the results you'll get. It worked for me, and I really believe it's the best product for uneven skin tone and discoloration.
